Episode 24 – Amanda Fisher of theEMPLOYEEapp

On this episode, I am joined by Amanda Fisher of theEMPLOYEEapp. Not only is Amanda their Client Success Account Manager but she is a former co-worker and friend. She brings a unique set of insights to the show with her background in transportation, warehouse management and now employee communication.

theEMPLOYEEapp is a unique, fully customizable app that helps your company communicate with the workforce that does not sit at a computer or have access to company email aka the deskless worker. What makes it convenient and incredibly useful is that the app gets downloaded to the employee’s device and you are able to push out communications to them and then track who has checked those communications with read receipts.

I believe this is really a great step in enhancing culture in the warehouse environment by including your operators in all communications and most importantly consistent communication. It also allows for the ability of employees to interact with the communications or content you push out to them similar to social media. This level of interaction is great because it is something that the majority of workers are familiar with which makes it very user friendly.

One huge opportunity I see with theEMPLOYEEapp for warehousing is the ability to upload all of your standard operating procedures, work instruction and safety information for employees to view at any time. With the read receipts you are also able to have great record keeping of which employees have read these items and viewed them.

I was wondering how this would impact the business legally in terms of how it puts the risk of employment rights for those individuals that are hourly?

Thanks for the comment! theEMPLOYEEapp is typically included as an optional choice for hourly employees so they are not required to download the app to their personal devices. Thus the app provides HR and Communications professionals with an additional line of communication that we have found very effective in creating an inclusive work culture.
